Our client, an iconic Australian public company, which has operating business interests that include coal mining, gas processing and distribution, chemicals and fertilisers manufacture to name a few, has a truly exciting opportunity for a Company Accountant for one of their major subsidiaries.
This national conglomerate has a turnover of over half a billion dollars. The primary objective of this household brand is to provide a satisfactory return to its shareholders.
The main purpose of this challenging and rewarding position is to manage and continuously improve the accounting and financial functions, and help maintain efficient and reliable accounting systems and processes. In addition, you will also ensure the integrity of the financial reporting function, and provide useful management information and financial services to help meet corporate objectives and strategies.
This is a newly created role due to unprecedented growth. Based in heart of Perth CBD this role reports directly the General Manager your, list of duties will be as follows:
• Maintain appropriate systems, processes and controls to administer and monitor accounting and financial functions
• Develop and monitor budgets and continuously analyse and investigate any material variances
• Provide timely and accurate management accounts on a monthly basis
• Provide cash flow and financial forecasts as required and ensure adequacy of cash flow and funding to meet ongoing requirements
• Coordinate in-house and external audit
• Ongoing review, assessment and improvement of accounting and financial functions
• Monitor financial performance against requirements under legislation, licences, or financing covenants to ensure ongoing compliance
• Coordinate the preparation and submission of statutory returns and payments
• Coordinate annual and interim statutory accounts and financial statements for to meet timing requirements for review, approval and lodgement
To be considered for this genuine career opportunity it is envisaged that you possess a post graduate qualification in accounting (CPA or ACA) and have experience in corporate or chartered accounting/ audit environment (five years minimum)
In addition, you will have in-depth knowledge of accounting concepts and practice, demonstrated financial analysis and modelling skills, an understanding of financing concepts coupled with strong strategic and conceptual thinking.
